The Nordik Hind is a mouth-blown game call developed in Sweden specifically to replicate the distress call of a red deer calf. When blown correctly, the sound agitates hind herds, drawing them in close — often barking — making it one of the most effective calling techniques in areas with dense red deer populations. To use, expand the lower section of the call, place the mouthpiece between your lips and exhale in short and longer bursts for 15–20 seconds. Rest for two to three minutes, then repeat for up to 15–20 minutes per stand. Cupping and opening your hands over the front of the call adds realism to the sound. The Nordik Hind also doubles as a sika deer rut call: begin softly, introduce a growl, then build to a high-pitched whistle before easing back to short, soft blows with a low growl.
