The Pixfra Mile 3 M325 is a handheld thermal imaging monocular built for night-time observation, and it suits deer stalking, foxing and general pest control. At its core is a 384×288, 12µm vanadium oxide sensor running at 50Hz with a ≤15mK NETD thermal sensitivity rating, which is what lets it separate a warm body from a cold background in the conditions that defeat lesser thermal — woodland, rain, mist and high humidity. Detection range extends to 1,300m.
A 25mm F0.9 objective gives a 19.3 × 14.3m field of view at 100m for scanning ground quickly, with 1.8x base magnification and 1x-8x digital zoom to identify what you have found. The 1920×1080, 0.49in OLED display offers six colour palettes, hot spot tracking, picture-in-picture and a built-in compass, with automatic, semi-automatic and manual uniformity correction. The three-in-one control wheel is the real change from the Mile 2: rotate to focus, press to zoom, hold for the menu, all without reaching across with your other hand.
Video with audio and stills record to 64GB of built-in storage, four times the previous generation, and Wi-Fi with the free Pixfra app gives remote control from a phone or tablet. The magnesium alloy body is rated IP67 against dust and water and works from -30°C to +55°C, weighing 300g. The quick-change 18650 lithium battery gives around 5.5 hours at 25°C with Wi-Fi off, and charges over 5V USB Type-C.
