It is a close-fitting protective cover that wraps the objective module, guarding the optic against the knocks and impacts that come with carrying a scope into the field. The stay-on design means the case remains on the module in use, so you can keep glassing without unpacking and repacking your kit on a stalk or a long sit watching a hill. Because the ATX/STX system is modular, this case covers the objective half of the scope and pairs with the matching eyepiece-module case to protect the complete instrument.
