The Tipton Cleaning Pellet Jag in .40-.50 calibre is a gun-cleaning tool, not ammunition. It is the caliber-specific jag that holds a Tipton felt cleaning pellet so you can run it down the bore of a larger-calibre rifle, muzzleloader or shotgun barrel. You simply twist a fresh felt pellet onto the jag head, charge it with your chosen bore solvent or oil, and push it through the barrel; the pellet grips the lands and grooves to lift out fouling and carry it clear of the muzzle. Because the felt does the work, there are no loose patches to fish out and far less mess on the bench. The jag is nickel-plated for corrosion resistance and threads onto a standard Tipton cleaning rod. Replace the pellet as it loads up and keep going until the patches come out clean. For the deer stalker or rough shooter putting a bigger-bore rifle or muzzleloader away after a damp day in the field, it is a quick, tidy way to keep the bore protected between outings. Pair it with Tipton .40-.50 felt cleaning pellets.
