The Tipton Ultra Jag is a nickel-plated brass cleaning jag sized for .338/8mm calibre rifles, made to carry a cleaning patch through the bore on a standard cleaning rod. Its patent-pending coating covers the jag's surface with a solvent-proof layer, so aggressive modern bore solvents can't dissolve the brass beneath and generate false blue staining that is normally read as copper fouling. That means when a patch does come back blue, you know it is genuine copper fouling rather than solvent reacting with the jag itself, so you stop cleaning when the bore is actually clean rather than chasing a false readout. Slotted grooves around the jag hold solvent for thorough cleaning and grip the patch securely as it is pushed and pulled through the bore, while a pointed tip helps the patch start into the barrel cleanly. It fits standard cleaning rod thread, so it drops straight into an existing rod-and-patch cleaning routine. A straightforward, well-made piece of kit for stalkers and shooters who want an accurate read on when a .338/8mm barrel is properly clean.
