RCBS Formula 1 is a dry walnut shell media for cleaning fired brass cartridge cases as part of the reloading process. The crushed walnut shell is ground to a 12/12 sieve size and treated with two cleaning oxides, so it cuts through powder fouling, tarnish and grime quickly and reaches into case necks and other awkward spots that are hard to clean by hand. It runs in both vibratory and Sidewinder case cleaners, tumbling the cases until they come up bright and ready for inspection, sizing and priming. Walnut is the aggressive cleaning stage; if you want a final high-lustre shine afterwards, RCBS pairs it with the corn cob Formula 2 media. Each box holds roughly 5 lb of media and comes with a packet of RCBS polishing compound to lift the finish and help keep dust down. For anyone loading their own rifle or pistol ammunition, clean brass is the starting point for consistent, reliable handloads, and this is a straightforward way to keep a batch of cases in good order between firings.
