These are Hornady V-MAX bullet heads in .224" diameter, 60 grain, sold as a box of 100 component projectiles for handloading fast-twist .22 centrefire calibres such as .223 Remington and .22-250. They are not loaded ammunition or rimfire cartridges; they are the bullet alone, ready to seat over your own load. The V-MAX pairs a swaged lead core with Hornady's match-grade AMP copper jacket, formed to tight concentricity for repeatable accuracy out to longer ranges. A sharp polymer tip sits over a hollow cavity, raising the ballistic coefficient for a flat, predictable trajectory and driving rapid, violent expansion on impact, reliably even at velocities as low as 1600 fps. That combination of accuracy and explosive fragmentation makes the 60 grain V-MAX a sound choice for fox control and other varmint and pest work, where a frangible bullet helps limit the risk of ricochet. The heavier 60 grain weight suits rifles with a faster barrel twist that will stabilise it properly. Supplied as bullet heads only; powder, primers and cases are bought separately.
