This Bisley adaptor lets you get more use out of a shotgun barrel cleaning rod by converting its thread so it will accept small-calibre rifle cleaning attachments instead. Shotgun cleaning rods and rifle cleaning attachments — jags, brushes, mops and patch-puller loops — use different thread fittings, so the two are not normally interchangeable; this small adaptor bridges that gap, meaning a single shotgun rod can also be used to run small-bore rifle attachments through a .22 or similar small-calibre rifle barrel, without the need to buy a dedicated rifle rod. It suits small-calibre rifle cleaning attachments consistent with .22-class use, as reflected in the product name. Being a small, simple fitting, it is best kept in a cleaning kit or pouch rather than loose in a gun cabinet or drawer. A neat, inexpensive accessory for anyone who owns both a shotgun and a small-calibre rifle and would rather maintain one cleaning rod than two.
