Birchwood Casey Barricade Rust Protection Take-Alongs are individually wrapped, pre-saturated wipes designed to keep firearms rust-free between cleans. Each foil-sealed sachet contains a 5 x 8 inch cloth soaked in Barricade rust-preventing formula, which drives moisture out of metal pores and leaves behind a thin, transparent protective film. That coating has proven itself in independent testing, withstanding 500 hours in the ASTM humidity test and 96 hours in the ASTM salt spray test, so a single wipe-down offers genuine long-term corrosion protection rather than a quick surface polish. Beyond rust prevention, the formula also works as a penetrant, helping to free up stiff or rusty screws, pins and moving parts, and doubles as a light lubricant for actions and hinges. The individually wrapped format makes them ideal for slipping into a gun slip, cleaning kit or game bag, so a gun can be wiped down in the field straight after a wet day's stalking or shooting, well before it goes back in the cabinet.
