Birchwood Casey's Perma Blue Paste is a cold-blue touch-up compound supplied in a handy 2oz tube, designed to restore a factory-style blue-black finish to bare or worn steel on rifles, shotguns and other firearms. Because it's a paste rather than a liquid, it reacts more slowly and builds up a denser, longer-lasting finish, making it well suited to full re-bluing jobs as well as quick touch-ups on scratches, holster wear and worn muzzles. Simply degrease and clean the steel back to bare metal, apply the paste, then work it in before wiping off the residue to reveal an even, non-streaky blue. It's not suitable for stainless steel, aluminium or other non-ferrous metals, so check what you're working with before use.
