The Hornady Primer Pocket Reamer Kit (Large) is a case-preparation tool for handloaders working with military-surplus large-primer brass. Spent cases from military 7.62x51mm NATO and similar chamberings typically have a staked or swaged crimp around the primer pocket that must be removed before a new primer can seat correctly. This reamer cuts away that crimp cleanly, leaving the pocket in the correct diameter and at a consistent depth so primers seat flush and ignite uniformly. The kit includes the large reamer head and the Hornady Universal Accessory Handle; the head uses 8-32 threads, so it will also fit the Case Prep Trio, Case Prep Center, and any handle accepting that thread pitch. It can be used by hand or chucked into a drill or power case-prep tool for faster batch processing. Hornady backs the tool with a lifetime warranty, and it is made in the USA. Note that this tool cuts the crimp rather than swaging it — no swarf-catching tray is needed, but expect a small amount of brass shaving.
