The Hornady Shell Holder #2 is a precision-machined press tool that holds a specific group of centrefire cartridge cases by the rim during all major reloading operations — sizing, decapping, priming and bullet seating. Manufactured from solid steel and heat-treated for long service life, it has a wide mouth with a rounded opening edge that guides the case in smoothly and without marking the brass. The holder snaps positively into the ram of a standard reloading press or shellplate and remains firmly retained throughout the full press stroke. Hornady shell holders are numbered by rim and head diameter, so each number covers a family of calibres that share those dimensions — one holder serves multiple cartridges within that case family. Shell Holder #2 is the same component supplied with Hornady die sets for its compatible calibres. Consult Hornady's official shell holder compatibility chart to confirm which cartridges Shell Holder #2 covers before ordering.
