- Works well paired with a magpie decoy for a stronger mobbing effect
Sport Plast's Little Owl decoy is a full-body, life-size replica used to draw in and mob corvids such as crows and magpies. It exploits natural mobbing behaviour: corvids see a perceived predator and gang up to drive it off, giving the waiting gun a stream of birds working in close rather than passing wide. This is the fixed-wing, non-flapping version, moulded from sturdy impact-resistant plastic and finished with realistic detail and bright, staring eyes, the feature most likely to wind up an inquisitive magpie or crow. Made in Italy by Sport Plast, a manufacturer whose full-body decoys are a longstanding fixture in UK corvid control and pest management. Set it out alone on the ground, a post, or a branch, or pair it with a magpie decoy nearby for a more convincing mobbing scene. A straightforward, durable decoy for anyone controlling crows and magpies around game cover, livestock, or crops.
