The Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph Premium Kit gives handloaders and rifle shooters a complete, accurate way to measure shot velocity. The kit bundles the chronograph unit itself with an IR LED light kit, a tripod and a custom carry case that holds everything together. Inside, a high-speed 48 MHz processor and an advanced data interface allow each unit to be computer-calibrated at the factory, giving accuracy to within +/- 0.25%, better than many rival chronographs. Despite the technology involved, operation is straightforward: velocity reads out in feet per second or metres per second on a large built-in LCD screen, and shot-string data can be sent via the supplied audio jack cable to a smartphone running Caldwell's free companion app, which logs average velocity, standard deviation, minimum, maximum and velocity spread for each string alongside load and environmental notes. The extra-wide sunshades are made from a durable synthetic material for reliable readings in bright conditions. The unit measures from 5 to 9,999 fps, has a 1/4-20 threaded insert on the base for tripod mounting, and runs on a 9V battery, not included. A useful piece of kit for anyone developing or verifying handloads at the range.
