Frankford Arsenal's untreated Walnut Hull Media is a case-cleaning medium for reloaders, supplied here as an 18lb fill in a 3.5-gallon bucket. Ground from walnut shells, it's designed for use in a vibratory or rotary case tumbler to strip fouling, spent primer residue, old lube and oxidation from the outside and inside of brass cartridge cases before they're resized and reloaded. Walnut media is prized among handloaders for its cleaning power in particular — it shifts grime and carbon more aggressively than corn cob media, which is generally better suited to the final polishing stage. Running dirty brass through clean dies accelerates wear and can mark every case that follows, so a proper tumble in walnut hull media is a cheap way to protect both dies and chamber. This is the untreated version, so it can be used as-is for a straightforward clean, or dosed with a separate ammonia-free brass polish if a brighter, tarnish-free finish is wanted. A media separator (sold separately) makes light work of sifting cleaned brass from the media afterwards.
