The Hornady Shell Plate #8 is a precision-machined rotating steel plate for the Hornady Lock-N-Load AP progressive press and the Projector press. It sits on the press's central indexing platform and carries cartridge cases through each reloading station in sequence, holding every case in accurate alignment under the sizing die, decapping pin, primer seater, powder measure drop tube, and bullet seater. Hornady machines a gentle radius on each shell holder mouth so that cases feed and eject smoothly during a run, reducing stoppages and case-mouth damage. The retainer spring is purpose-designed to stay in position when you insert cases, not spring free, making the loading process more consistent when working at volume. Each numbered shell plate covers a group of cartridges that share the same case-head diameter.
