The Antonini Old Bear is a traditional Italian folding pocket knife made in Maniago, handmade using classic techniques and now something of a modern classic in its own right. This Xtra Small version measures 150mm overall (90mm closed) with a 60mm blade and weighs just 27g, making it a genuinely pocketable everyday tool rather than a full-size sheath knife. The blade is satin-finished C70 carbon steel, salt-etched with the "Old Bear" logo — it takes and holds a keen edge readily, though like any carbon steel it will develop a grey patina with use and should be wiped dry and lightly oiled after wet work to keep rust at bay. The handle is oil-treated olive wood, warm to the hand with distinctive natural grain, fitted with a brass safety-ring collar that rotates to lock the blade both open and closed — a simple, robust mechanism rather than a modern liner lock. Small enough for a trouser pocket, it earns its keep on everyday jobs around the farm, garden or kitchen as readily as a day in the field.
