The Antonini Old Bear is a traditional Italian pocketknife built in the classic style, and this Xtra Large version carries a 100mm carbon steel blade with an overall length of 230mm open and 130mm closed, weighing 62g. The blade is C70 carbon steel with a flat grind, clip point and a satin finish carrying a salt-etched Old Bear logo. Without chromium in the mix, the steel takes an edge easily — no elaborate sharpening kit is needed, and with use the blade develops a grey patina that also helps guard against rust, in the traditional way these working knives have always been kept sharp and serviceable. The handle is American walnut, opened with a traditional nail-nick, and locked open or closed by Old Bear's own brass safety ring — a simple, reliable mechanism rather than a modern liner lock.
