Smith's 4in Dual Grit Sharpening Stone puts two grits of bonded synthetic abrasive on one stone, used in the same way as a diamond or natural Arkansas bench stone. The 100-grit side is the coarse face: it removes metal quickly and is the one to reach for on a badly dulled or damaged blade that needs aggressive work to bring the edge back. The 240-grit side is less aggressive, suited to touching up a blade that only needs a quick refresh, or to smoothing and refining the edge after working it on the coarse side. At 4in long, the stone is a comfortable size for pocket knives, sporting knives and tactical knives as well as other cutting tools, and it is made in the USA. It comes with its own pouch, so it travels well and fits easily into a pocket or pack rather than needing bench space — a straightforward two-stage stone for sharpening and maintaining an edge wherever you are, from the workshop to the field.
