The Utica Cutlery Survival Series 5" is a full-tang fixed-blade knife built in Utica, New York from high-carbon 1095 steel, heat-treated to 58–59 HRC and finished with a tough black powder coating that resists rust and glare in the field. The 5.125in drop-point blade carries a flat grind for controlled, precise cutting, whether that's food prep at camp, general fieldcraft or light bushcraft tasks. The handle scales are CNC-machined black canvas Micarta with an anti-slip texture, paired with two shot-moulded Micarta bolsters, giving a secure grip in wet or cold conditions, and belly and thumb-rest jimping on the 0.20in-thick tang add further control. Overall length runs to around 10.5in and the knife weighs approximately 11oz (313g), a manageable weight for all-day carry. It comes with a moulded Kydex sheath fitted with an adjustable clip for vertical or horizontal belt carry, plus a built-in sharpener and a ferro-rod fire starter housed in the sheath body — genuinely useful extras for anyone using the knife away from base.
