The Marttiini Kiehinen is a compact Finnish puukko built for carving and general outdoor use. Its 9cm blade is forged from traditional carbon steel, ideal for whittling and shaping wood - it takes a keen edge and is straightforward to bring back to sharpness with a few strokes on a stone. At 19.5cm overall it is light and easy to carry, making it as much at home on a stalking trip as in a rucksack or tackle bag. The handle is turned from Finnish curly birch, a dense, hard-wearing timber long favoured by Nordic knifemakers for its grip and good looks, with each handle carrying its own natural grain. A natural-coloured leather sheath, made in the same tradition, protects the blade and keeps it close to hand. Marttiini has built knives like this in Rovaniemi for generations, and the Kiehinen carries that heritage into a genuinely useful everyday tool - equally suited to campers, craftsmen, anglers and hunters who want a reliable blade for kindling, food prep or general fieldcraft.
