The Parker-Hale Long Wool Mop is a shotgun bore-cleaning attachment, supplied in 12 bore and 20 bore to cover the two most common UK gauges. It is used to lay down a protective film of oil once the main brushing and solvent pass is complete. This is the extra-long version of Parker-Hale's wool mop, carrying more wool than the standard pattern, so it holds more oil and covers the bore evenly in fewer passes than a shorter mop would need. The curved tip is shaped to sit against the bore and choke without scratching either, making it a safe choice for the final stage of a cleaning routine. It is threaded to fit Parker-Hale cleaning rods, and also fits some Bisley rods. Made in the UK, the natural wool fibres pick up and hold oil well, leaving a consistent protective coat that helps guard against moisture and corrosion in storage. Washing the mop with detergent from time to time keeps it working properly as old oil and fouling build up. A simple, inexpensive addition to any shotgun cleaning rod set-up.
