The HIKMICRO Explorer E20 is a plug-in thermal imaging module for Android phones and tablets, not a standalone thermal monocular — it clips straight into a compatible device's USB-C port and turns the screen into a thermal viewfinder. There is no battery to charge: the E20 draws around 360mW directly from the host phone, so it is always ready to go and never needs its own power management. Behind the compact housing sits a 256x192px, 12μm thermal sensor paired with a 9.7mm F1.0 lens, giving an 18.1° x 13.6° field of view and a detection range of around 970m — enough to pick out a fox, rabbit or roosting bird well beyond the range of the naked eye at night. Everything is controlled through the free HIKMICRO Sight app, which offers six colour palettes — White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Rainbow, Ironbow and a dedicated Birdwatching mode — plus photo and video capture. At just 26g and under 27mm in each dimension it disappears into a jacket pocket, making it a genuinely portable option for foxing, pest control or general night-time wildlife spotting when a full-sized thermal unit is more than is needed. An Android phone or tablet with a USB-C port is required to use it.
