Sierra's Varminter bullet heads (part no. 1360) are .22 calibre component projectiles for handloaders, supplied as bare bullets only — no case, primer or powder included, and this is not loaded ammunition. Each box holds 100 heads at 55 grains, in Sierra's Spitzer profile with a diameter of 0.224in, a sectional density of 0.157 and a ballistic coefficient of 0.237. The jacket is lightly constructed, built to deliver explosive expansion on varmint and pest species while standing up to the very high velocities needed for a flat, accurate trajectory. The bullet is non-coated, carries no cannelure and is not a lead-free design. As with any component bullet, reloaders should seat and crimp to their own load data, work up loads carefully, and check their barrel's twist rate against Sierra's published load data before loading — this is a lightly-jacketed bullet and not every barrel or load combination will suit it.
