The Hornady Canister Dehumidifier is a reusable desiccant unit designed to protect firearms, ammunition and valuables from moisture-related rust and corrosion inside gun safes, security cabinets and other enclosed storage spaces. The canister contains silica gel crystals that absorb airborne humidity and change colour as they become saturated — turning pink when the unit needs recharging. To restore the dehumidifier, simply place it in a conventional oven at approximately 150°C (300°F) until the crystals return to their original blue colour, a process that typically takes up to four hours. Once recharged, the canister is ready to use again with no replacement parts required. There is no limit to the number of recharge cycles, making it a cost-effective long-term solution for any shooter, stalker or collector who wants to keep their safe contents in first-class condition without the ongoing cost of disposable moisture absorbers.
