The Hornady Full-Length Size Die for .223 Remington (.224) is a precision-machined reloading die that sizes fired cartridge cases back to SAAMI minimum specifications, restoring them for reliable chambering and consistent reloading. At the heart of the design is Hornady's Elliptical Expander — a significant improvement over traditional ball expanders — which provides exceptionally smooth neck sizing while reducing friction and case neck stretch for longer case life. The headed decap pin and Elliptical Expander are mounted on the Zip Spindle™, a Custom Grade feature that locks positively to eliminate slippage and allows fine incremental adjustments via light threads, or rapid repositioning by simply zipping the spindle up or down. The internal die profile is precision machined and polished to a mirror-smooth finish, preventing case sticking and ensuring reliable feeding. The die ships with Hornady's Sure-Loc™ lock ring, which clamps around the full die body to apply constant, even pressure — the locking screw tightens against the ring rather than the threads, and built-in wrench flats make removal straightforward.
