The Hornady Taper Crimp Die is a single reloading die designed for handgun calibres that headspace on the case mouth — specifically .38 calibre, 9mm Luger, 9x21 and .380 Auto. Unlike a roll crimp, which deforms the case mouth, this die applies a smooth, gradual taper that removes the flare left by the expander die and seats the case mouth firmly around the bullet without creating a sharp shoulder. The result is a correctly finished cartridge that feeds reliably in semi-automatic pistols and does not interfere with headspace. Machined to Hornady's Custom Grade New Dimension standard, the die body features one of the finest internal finishes available, reducing friction and allowing precise, repeatable adjustments in any standard 7/8 inch by 14 TPI reloading press. Supplied with Hornady's Sure-Loc locking ring for rock-solid die position once set. Suitable for use as a standalone crimp die alongside any three-die pistol set, or as an upgrade to replace a standard crimp stage.
