These are Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint component bullets for reloading, not loaded ammunition, supplied in a box of 250 .224" diameter, 40-grain projectiles for the .22 calibre handloader. Built for varmint and fox work, each bullet carries a colour-coded polymer tip that drives back on impact to start rapid, violent expansion, while the thin jacket mouth peels open to dump energy quickly and limit ricochet. A gradually thickening jacket wall and Nosler's Solid Base boat-tail give a clean, stable base that resists deformation under high-velocity loads, so accuracy holds at the flat-shooting speeds favoured for .22-250, .220 Swift and similar cartridges. The spitzer boat-tail form is rated at a ballistic coefficient of 0.221 and a sectional density of 0.114, with a recommended minimum impact velocity of 1,600 fps for reliable expansion. Non-coated and without a cannelure, these suit the reloader chasing tight groups and decisive terminal performance on smaller quarry at range. As component bullets they need separate cases, primers and powder, and a current load manual to work up a safe charge.
