These lead shims are designed to sit between a rifle barrel and the bushings of a barrel vise, improving grip during removal and installation without marking the steel or damaging the bluing. The soft lead increases friction against the barrel, making it easier to hold the action securely while working, and each shim can be reused across multiple jobs rather than being a one-off consumable. The pack contains four shims, each measuring approximately 2.25 by 4 in and around 0.040 to 0.048 in thick, sized to fit Wheeler's own barrel vise.
