      Rifle rests and shooting sticks — everything between you and an unsupported shot.

      Choosing by number of legs:

      • Bipod (2 leg) — lightest and quickest to deploy, and the least stable. Fine seated or prone, or for a quick shot in close cover.
      • Tripod (3 leg) — the usual compromise. Stable enough for standing shots, still quick to set.
      • Quad (4 leg) — the steadiest standing rest by a distance, and the choice for anyone taking standing shots at range. Slower to set up and heavier to carry.
