The Vortex Crossfire HD 3-9x40 Straight-Wall is built for hunters running straight-walled cartridges such as .450 Bushmaster, 350 Legend and .45-70 Government, where many US states restrict rifle hunting to straight-wall rounds. Its Straight-Wall BDC reticle is calibrated to those cartridges' trajectories, giving accurate holdover points at the longer ranges a bottlenecked-cartridge reticle would misjudge. The same HD optical system runs through the rest of the range — select glass elements and fully multi-coated lenses deliver sharp resolution, reduced chromatic aberration and good light transmission for the low-light hours hunting often happens in. The one-inch aircraft-grade aluminium tube carries capped 1/4 MOA turrets with 15 MOA of travel per rotation and 72 MOA of total elevation and windage adjustment, dialled through a fast-focus eyepiece on the second focal plane reticle. Fully sealed and nitrogen-purged, it's waterproof, fogproof and shockproof, built to hold zero under a straight-wall cartridge's recoil. Set the 100-yard parallax, and the low-glare matte black anodised finish keeps glare and shine down in the field. At 12.5in and 16.2oz, it carries Vortex's transferable, lifetime VIP warranty.
