At longer stalking or target ranges, even a few degrees of cant in the rifle pushes the shot sideways, and having a level sitting quietly in the shooter's peripheral vision makes it easy to square the rifle before pressing the trigger. Unlike a bulkier clamp-on level, the Lo Pro's flexible aluminium band is designed to flex open and slip straight over the scope tube, so it can be fitted without removing the scope from the rifle.
