Vortex's Viper 44mm Sunshade is a 4-inch tube that screws onto the front of a Viper riflescope with a 44mm objective lens, extending the objective bell so low sun, overhead glare and reflections off snow or water are cut before they reach the glass. It's made from black anodised aluminium, so it adds negligible weight and matches the finish of the scope rather than standing out. Fitting is straightforward - the internal thread simply screws onto the objective bell, no tools or gunsmithing required, and it can be removed just as easily if you prefer to shoot without it.
