The Weatherby Vanguard was launched in Wyoming in 1945 and remains a popular short-action centrefire choice, and this Britannia Rails Picatinny base is built specifically to fit it. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminium with a hard anodised finish, the rail carries 20 MOA of built-in forward elevation cant, buying back scope adjustment range for shooters working at longer distances rather than relying on the scope's own elevation turret to do all the work. It is made to true MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny spec at 149mm long, giving a firm, repeatable lock onto the action with none of the sideways slide you get on a dovetail rail. Fitting is straightforward: it attaches with four 6-48 screws and a T15 hex bit, both supplied, so there is no gunsmithing or redrilling of the action needed. As with the rest of the Britannia range, it is finished for durability rather than looks alone, giving a stable base for anything from a day scope to a night vision or thermal unit on the Vanguard short action.
