The Warne Maxima M848/848S is a two-piece steel scope base built for the Browning BAR family of rifles, giving you a solid, low-profile foundation for mounting an optic. Machined from steel around the popular Weaver pattern, it's designed to be one of the strongest and most versatile base systems available, with a slim profile that keeps the rifle looking sleek rather than cluttered. Each base carries a full-width, full-depth recoil slot, giving Warne ring recoil keys maximum bearing surface to resist the BAR's recoil under repeated shots. Fitted with Warne Maxima QD rings, the low profile also lets you look straight over the top of the base to use iron sights when the scope is removed, without changing your normal shooting position. The base set mounts securely using Torx-style T-15 socket cap screws, with 25 in/lb of torque recommended for installation. As well as the Browning BAR and BAR II, the same base pattern fits the Browning Mark II, BPR and Maral, plus a range of other rifles sharing this action footprint.
