The Barnes Tipped Triple-Shock X (TTSX) in .308 calibre at 130 grains is a fully lead-free, 100% copper monolithic bullet designed for deer stalking and big-game hunting where clean, deep penetration is paramount. The polymer tip raises the G1 ballistic coefficient to 0.350 and drives the enlarged hollow-nose cavity open reliably at hunting velocities, forcing four razor-sharp copper petals to peel back and lock in a mushroom that roughly doubles the original diameter. Unlike cup-and-core designs, the solid copper body retains 99–100% of its weight through the target, ensuring consistent terminal performance at all practical hunting ranges. Pressure relief grooves machined into the shank reduce bore friction and copper fouling compared with earlier solid-copper designs, and keep pressures within safe limits even in tightly-bored chambers. Sectional density is 0.196, and Barnes recommends an initial seating depth 0.050 in. off the lands, with best accuracy typically found between 0.030 in. and 0.070 in. depending on the rifle.
