This is the genuine Maglite Magnum Star II xenon replacement bulb for 5-cell (5 D-cell) incandescent Maglite torches. It uses the bi-pin base fitted to these classic Maglite lights, so it drops straight in once the old lamp is removed. The xenon-filled Magnum Star II gives a brighter, whiter beam than the standard krypton lamp it succeeds, and it replaces earlier White Star and Magnum Star bi-pin bulbs in the same torch. Bulbs are a consumable item that dim and eventually fail with use, so keeping a spare to hand means your torch is ready when you need it - whether that is checking stock at last light, walking back from a stalking position or working around the yard after dark. Fitting is straightforward: unscrew the head, lift out the spent lamp and seat the new bi-pin bulb in the holder, taking care not to bend the pins. Note that this is for incandescent Maglite torches only and is not compatible with LED models.
