Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint bullets are component projectiles for handloaders, supplied as a box of 100 unprimed 6mm (.243) bullets weighing 70 grains — this is not loaded ammunition. Built for violent, rapid expansion rather than the controlled expansion of a hunting bullet, they are designed to deal with foxes and other vermin quickly and humanely. A polymer tip drives back into the ultra-thin jacket mouth on impact, forcing immediate expansion and fragmentation, while a reinforced mid-section keeps the bullet together in flight until the moment it strikes. A heavy base resists deformation during firing, and the boat-tail profile improves ballistic efficiency for flatter, more consistent shooting at range. Nosler recommends a minimum impact velocity of around 1600 fps for reliable performance. This 70-grain 6mm load suits handloaders working up rounds for .243 Winchester and similar cartridges for foxing and other vermin control work, giving fast, explosive terminal performance without over-penetration on light-framed quarry.
