The Express Max Game 3" Magnum is a heavyweight 12 bore hunting cartridge built for shooters who need serious downrange energy at long distances. Developed by Lyalvale in 1996 in response to demand for heavier-loaded cartridges with reduced felt recoil, this 76mm magnum case cartridge is loaded with 50g of No.1 lead shot at 1,350fps — a combination suited to high birds, late-season pheasants and hard-driven days where standard loads simply run out of steam. The cartridge is proofed for use in all CIP-approved magnum chambers of not less than 76mm and features a crimp closure that maintains consistent patterns even at the extreme ranges the load was designed for. Propulsion comes from clean-burning Vectan single-base powder, sourced from the Nobel Sport Group in Brittany, France — a propellant specifically formulated for heavy shot loads, delivering the high velocities required for clean long-range kills without the spike in recoil typically associated with magnum cartridges. Reliable cycling in semi-automatic shotguns was also a design consideration in this load's development.
