This Contessa Euro Rail is a precision-made fixed base by Contessa Alessandro & C. s.n.c. of Italy, made to fit directly to Sako 75/85 Medium action rifles. It's Contessa's own proprietary Euro/QD rail system rather than a Picatinny rail, and once fitted it pairs with a Contessa Quick Release scope mount, using Contessa's QD clamping system to lock a scope onto the rifle securely and repeatably. This lets you remove and refit a scope in seconds without losing zero, and, provided other rifles are fitted with matching Contessa bases, the same scope and mount can be swapped between rifles just as quickly. It gives a low-profile, solid mounting platform built for stalkers and rifle shooters who run more than one rifle, or who simply want the convenience of a quick-detach optic without compromising repeatability.
