- Part of the wider Patina bronze field-sports sculpture range
Medium Highbird with Labrador pairs the two central images of driven pheasant shooting in one bronze study: a bird pushed high overhead and the Labrador beneath, watching the fall. It's part of Patina's range of field-sports sculptures, cast in cold cast bronze — resin bonded with genuine bronze powder and finished with a traditional chemical patina, so the piece carries the look and weight of solid bronze at a more accessible price. Made entirely by hand in the UK, it stands 23cm tall on a 10 x 9cm base, a size that reads well on a mantelpiece, bookshelf or gun-room cabinet without dominating the room. The composition will be familiar to anyone who has spent a day on a driven shoot, and it makes a considered gift for a keen shot or a Labrador owner alike. Being cold cast rather than solid foundry bronze, it's an indoor piece — keep it out of the weather and simply dust with a soft cloth to keep the patina looking its best.
