Medium Highbird with Spaniel brings together two familiar images from a day's shooting: a pheasant pushed high overhead and a spaniel below, marking the fall. Part of Patina's range of field-sports sculptures, it is cast in cold cast bronze — resin bonded with genuine bronze powder and finished with a traditional chemical patina, giving it the look and weight of solid bronze at a more accessible price. Made entirely by hand in the UK, it stands 23cm tall on a 10 x 9cm base, a size that suits a mantelpiece, bookshelf or gun-room cabinet without overwhelming the space. The pairing of bird and dog will strike a chord with anyone who has walked up or worked a spaniel over rough shooting, and it makes a genuinely thoughtful gift for a spaniel owner or keen shot. As a cold cast rather than solid foundry piece, it's best kept indoors or under cover, with just a soft cloth needed to keep the finish looking sharp.
