The Gerber Gator Combo II pairs a forged-steel hatchet with a folding-free handsaw that stows inside its own handle, giving you two cutting tools in one compact package for the truck, the larder yard or a day in the woods. The forged head holds an edge well and splits kindling, limbs and small timber with confidence, while the longer handle adds leverage and striking force compared with a stubby camp hatchet. That handle is moulded from glass-filled nylon for strength without excess weight, and it is wrapped in Gerber's textured Gator grip so it stays put in a wet or cold hand. The coarse-toothed saw slides into a channel in the handle and is held fast by an internal magnet, so it travels with the axe rather than going missing at the bottom of a bag. The saw clears green branches and brush that an axe edge tends to bind in. A nylon sheath with a belt loop is included, keeping the head covered and the tool to hand around the high seat, the larder or the camp.
