The Hornady .458 250gr MonoFlex® is a lead-free monolithic component bullet engineered specifically for lever-action rifles chambered in .45-calibre cartridges. Combining the technologies of Hornady's GMX® and FTX® designs, the MonoFlex® is constructed from a copper alloy — harder and tougher than solid copper — which will not separate and does not foul the bore or increase pressure the way pure copper bullets can. Upon impact, the patented Flex Tip® initiates immediate expansion even at the lower velocities typical of mid- to long-range lever-gun shooting. The Flex Tip® design also makes the bullet safe for use in tubular magazines, where pointed projectiles cannot be stacked point-to-primer. Recovered bullets typically retain 95% of original weight, and deep penetration ensures dependable energy transfer. The ballistically efficient secant ogive profile squeezes the flattest possible trajectories from lever-action platforms.
