The Laurin Metalli Carving Blade is a Finnish-made blade blank intended for custom knife making, supplied without a handle so the craftsman can fit their own scales or handle material to suit their preferences. The 125 mm blade is ground from 80CrV2 carbon steel — a high-carbon alloy favoured by knife makers for its ability to take a very sharp edge and its good toughness relative to its hardness. The 80CrV2 grade contains chromium and vanadium additions that improve wear resistance and toughness compared to plain high-carbon steels, making it a popular choice for carving and general-purpose blades where edge retention matters. The blade measures 20 mm in depth and 3.25 mm in width, proportions that suit a slender, nimble carving profile. Laurin Metalli has produced blade blanks in Finland for decades, supplying knife makers across Scandinavia and Europe with consistent, well-finished stock.
