The Lee Factory Crimp Die for the .44-40 Winchester adds a crimping stage once the bullet is seated. It holds the bullet firmly in the neck of the bottlenecked case so pressure builds more evenly, and it does not need a bullet with a crimp groove. A good choice for cowboy action and lever-action loads, where rounds sit nose to primer in a tubular magazine.
