The Leofoto VD-02 is a small folding base that turns a monopod into a self-supporting tripod for those moments when you need both hands free — glassing a hillside with a spotting scope, or holding steady on a camera while you wait for a shot to develop. It attaches by unscrewing the standard foot from a Leofoto monopod and fitting the VD-02 in its place via a 3/8" tripod screw, which tilts so the base can sit flat even when the monopod itself is leaning. Built from solid magnesium with three rubber feet, it grips confidently on rock, decking or wet ground, and at only 480g it barely adds to the pack. Folded, it measures just 165mm, and once fitted it adds 92mm to the monopod's working height while supporting up to 6kg — enough for a spotting scope, binocular head or a camera and lens combination. It's compatible with any Leofoto monopod, and with the removable monopod legs on Leofoto Armour and Traveler carbon tripods, making it a genuinely useful bit of kit to carry alongside a monopod rather than a separate tripod.
