The Pulsar Recon 870R is a compact, hand-held digital night vision monocular built for stalking and general field use after dark. It offers 5x optical magnification with 2x digital zoom, and its highly sensitive CCD array combined with a high-aperture F/d=1.0 lens gives a detection range of up to 300m, depending on conditions. The built-in 915nm IR illuminator is a covert, Class 1 eye-safe laser, so it can be used in genuinely low light without alerting game or giving away your position. Images appear on a 640x480 OLED display that stays crisp and detailed even in sub-zero temperatures, with a choice of black and white, high-contrast, green or red display modes to suit personal preference and help eyes adjust quickly after use. The unit records still images and video to its own storage and carries a video-out port for connecting an external recorder or TV. A quarter-inch tripod socket and a Weaver short rail let the Recon 870R be tripod-mounted or fitted with auxiliary IR illuminators and other accessories. It is also resistant to bright light exposure, so it can be set up and used by day as well as after dark.
