Sierra's Varminter is a .22 calibre (0.224" diameter) 60 grain hollow point rifle bullet, supplied as a reloading component for handloaders — not loaded ammunition. It is lightly constructed for rapid, explosive expansion on varmints and small vermin, while minimising ricochet risk, and is built to withstand the high velocities that varmint calibres demand without breaking up in the barrel. It performs best from larger-capacity cartridges such as the 22-250 Remington or 220 Swift, fired through a 1-in-14" twist barrel, and also works well in medium-capacity cases such as the .223 Remington through a 1-in-12" twist. With a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.246 and a sectional density of 0.171, it gives a flat trajectory suited to long-range vermin control. The bullet has a flat base, no cannelure, and an uncoated jacket, and is made in the USA to Sierra's usual consistency standards. Supplied 100 to a box for handloaders working up their own varmint loads.
