Woolpower's Long Johns with Fly Protection 400 are a thick merino wool mid layer built for work with fire, electric arc or static risk, worn over a Protection base layer and under wind- and water-resistant outerwear for extra insulation in cold, low-activity conditions. The fabric is Woolpower's Protection 400 — 84% merino wool with 14% aramide, 1% Beltron and 1% elastane — giving an ATPV rating of 34.3 cal/cm² and certification to EN standards covering flame resistance, antistatic properties and electric arc protection. It is circular-knitted with terry loops on the inside and has no lengthwise seams to rub or chafe, while a back gusset adds room to move without the fabric pulling tight. The fly makes it practical for a full working day, and knitted-in cuffs keep the ankles snug under boots or over-trousers. Wool's natural resistance to ignition means the fibre won't melt against the skin, and unlike a disposable FR base layer it's built to be washed and worn through a full working season.
